Talk-Show Movies

"Late Show with David Letterman" (1993)

David Letterman's comedic talk-show after moving to a new television network. He retains largely the same format as the previous 'Late Night with David Letterman.'

"Live with Regis and Kathie Lee" (1989)

This popular and long-running morning talk show owes much of its success to the chemistry between its two hosts, Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford. Although the format is not significantly different from most other morning shows, viewers are attracted to the pair's conversations about their families and personal lives.

"Today" (1952)

"The Daily Show" (1996)

Providing comedy/news in the tradition of TV Nation and SNL's Weekend Update, Comedy Central's Daily Show reports on the foibles and of the real world with a satirical edge. In addition to news stories, the Daily Show also has celebrities (and semi-celebrities) on for interviews with the host, Jon Stewart. Lampooning everything from televangelists to Charlton Heston ("I did not play a homo in Ben-Hur"), and shamelessly assigning faux-news epithets ("Newt Gingrich: Giant Toddler") Kilborn, Winstead, and the crew actually manage to report some real news from time to time.

"Inside the Actors Studio" (1994)

James Lipton interviews some of today's most talented actors, directors and writers. In the audience are students and famous alumni of the Actors Studio's master of fine arts program. The interviewees talk about their childhood, how they got started in show business, their early career and behind-the-scenes trivia. The interview concludes with a standardized questionnaire that includes such questions as "What is your favorite word?" and "If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive?" After that, Lipton and the interviewee move to a classroom where the M.F.A. students can question the interviewee directly.

"The Troy Cory Evening Show" (1974)

Troy and Priscilla Cory, as the Hosts, interviewed numerous known entertainers, songwriters, actors,Studio Heads, current headline news detectives, etc. All of substantial interest to the public eye, and still known today. They also were a Father and Daughter Singing Duo, who performed, sang and danced to original songs and standards. They were the only Father and Daughter Duo during that time period, who performed on their own TV Show.
